Hello everyone,
I recently picked up BF2 and am anxious to play. However, sometimes when I attempt to launch the program I encounter a fairly major problem.
The splash screen for BF2 will load in a small window on my desktop, and processes BF2.exe and ~e5.0001 both launch (I see this in the Task Manager). My CD-ROM drive begins to spin up wildly. Then nothing happens. The BF2 logo sits in a window, and the resolution never changes for game launch.
During this period of time I can't eject my CD-ROM drive, Windows loses the ability to launch new processes (but anything that is currently open still works fine), and ending the BF2/~e5 processes from the Task Manager has no effect.
A few minutes later a message comes up saying that BF2 has crashed, and my system returns to normal.
I do have Daemon Tools installed on my system, but I am using the actual game CD in my actual CD drive. This problem only occurs about 1/2 of the time. I have run the game a few times and enjoyed myself, and it runs great on my machine once it actually launches.
I have read a few similar posts to this, but haven't seen any advice that works in my case.
Please advise!
