Wtf - Can't Even Start The Game

Hey,
I've had BF2 since it came out, and have been playing it for a while. About a week ago, I clicked my BF2 icon to start the game, my screen would go black like it was about to load it, and then NOTHING would happen. I was pretty freaking ****ed because nothing is worse than something like this happening.

So I uninstalled, reinstalled - it still doesn't work. Same process, over and over and over. Still didn't work. So eventually, I posted somewhere, and they told me to delete the registry files for BF2 after I uninstalled because they could be corrupt. So I did that, installed, updated with patches, and everything works fine.

Fast foward to 10 FREAKING MINUTES AGO - the EXACT same thing is happening again. I DO NOT want to reinstall the game every week. I don't know what to do, my back is against the wall, and this makes me never want to play a PC game again. Please help me, because I don't want to be mad anymore.

Here are my system Specs:
Windows XP Pro
AMD64 3700+
Abit AN8 Motherboard
500 Watt Kingston PSU
2x1024 Mushkin Ram
300gig HD - Master (Games, Programs)
250gig HD - Slave (Documents)
Geforce 7800 GT 256mb

Also, here are a few random things that may or may not help with this problem. They mean nothing to me, but may to you.

*I was running the game with the correct patches installed
*I am using the firewall program "Zone Alarm"
*Whenever the game stops working, when I open the cd, and close it again - the autorun won't even let me select Play Now, or Play Online
*When I try to reinstall patches, some work, and others say it has to be installed
*Other games work FINE!!


Does anybody have any suggestions? I would be so incredibly grateful!!!

If you have TV-OUT or secondary screen enabled in nvidia options, try disabling them, making sure that only primary display is enabled.

If I have TV-OUT enabled on secondary, my BF2 won't start. Maybe this is only an issue on my system, but worth a try.

is your computer disconnected from the lan? is your computer online?

I have had the black screen pause when either of the above was amiss

This could be the culprit. The moment the black screen pops up is about the time when BF2 checks the validity of your CD. Try to explore your CD drive. It will probably freeze up explorer and force you to kill it. It could be that your CD is borked or your drive is. Open up BF2 and get the game to hang again while taking note of the time. Right click on My Computer, goto Manage, then expand the + by Event viewer and check the logs for System and Application. You may have some errors listed pertaining to your cdrom drive. This happened to me awhile back but it was not as bad as it is for you. More random than anything. I had to junk my LITE-ON POS and buy a superior NEC CD/DVD combo drive.
