Single Shot Firing Mode

Why does my machine gun go into a semi-automatic single-shot firing mode sometimes? This only seems to happen to me when I play as Special Forces.

When you "re-select" a weapon you already have out, for instance, hit 3 when you have your main gun out, it changes the firing mode. To change it back, just hit the button again.

ha, that reminds me.....when i use x-fire i set the in-game chat thing to "insert-x" and i was wondering for a good month why i would always leave and make my own squad. then i got SF and read the manual on the car ride home (out of sheer excitement) and saw that insert made another squad....i felt like such a douchebag
