    Battlefield crashes to desktop

    Hi guys,

I was playing bf this afternoon and all is well and good, come to play it tonight and everytime i double click a server or enter an ip address, the games crashes straight to the desktop, no error message, no sign of a problem.

Also, another thing i noticed is that when it crashes the computer is fast, like normal, whereas when i normally quit the game the computer is laggy and slow, i presume this is to do with the RAM?
Could be an indicator of the problem?
    Any help or suggestions appriciated.

The reason it closes out so fast is because the game has not loaded into memory yet, you're just in the menu. Do other games exhibit the same behaviour? Are you on XP/2k? if so, right click on My Computer, Click Manage, expand Event Viewer and check the logs under System and Application. Whatever caused BF2 to crash might have generated a log.

My BF2 has been crashing to desktop since the latest patch quite often now. For me, there's two different crashes. One is due to poor coding on DICE's part, and the other is because I have disabled my swap file (i have 1.5GB of ram too, CTD happened before I got the extra ram as well) which causes windows to kill BF2 sometimes because it has run out of virtual memory. It's probably your swap file if you have disabled it. Most people do that as soon as they get enough memory.
