Demo connection troubles

I downloaded the BF2 demo a while ago, and I'm having trouble connecting to games online. Whenever I join a game from the in game browser, the screen goes blank for a second, then goes back to the server browser as if nothing happened. The music loops back to the beginning too. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I have an AMD Athlon 64 dual core 4200.

probely just the demo. beacuse it was a test for Dice.
