There are so many good mods in development out there, but unless some start to release something playable soon, I'm afraid the BF2 interest will start to go down before the mods see the light of day. BF2 is not going to last forever, and so the time is ticking. Look at Project Reality, they're not finished, but they've released small versions of their mod trigging the public's interest. All the mods should do something similar, and not just show off render after render and then when they're finally done with it, everyone else is playing Battlefield 3 which has better this and better that, if EA keep their hands off that is. Just a suggestion...

rushed content = rushed rubbish games.. there is alot of amazing content that is so close to release in a variety of game types within the BF2 community. and look at other "manufactured" games.. rushed = 4-5 patches and upset community.

Desert Conflict as well as many others are very close. We cant give a release date in case it fails, which has been known to happen, and makes you look really bad.
Soon though, very soon.

just a suggestion we have all heard a million times and aren't phased by one iota. have a look at our FH2 threads - every update now it seems tht 30% of the replies is "when will it be out? because everyone will stop playing bf2 when 2142 comes out...."
but lets really look at the picture realistically here - 2142 is set in the FUTURE. now, to some people that is a cool setting but to the majority of true BF2 users its just to far fetched for any mature gamer to have a "connection" with. now, having said tht - do you REALLY think that say, a WW2 mod or a gulf war mod, have anything to worry about when it comes to a SCI FI game? short answer - no.
look at project reality? they are, in essence, a minimod. a total conversion mod has just a little more work involved
trust me - we are all working flat out and nothing could be more insulting than people who aren't involved with modding the bf2 engine telling us when and why we should release.
sorry for the aggressive stance on this one - its just we see it everyday in our updates tht i dont think it needs to be repeated with its own thread. especially when it really is a form of an idle threat. ("release your mod quicker or i'll stop playing bf2")
thnx for the suggestion.

9 out of 10 believe 2142 has a sucky setting so I don't worry about that for a second. I'm just saying threre are many developers out there and new stuff is in the works for sure. Before you know it some new exceptional WW2 FPS or something is out there drawing everyone's attention. If you look straight long enough, you'll get hit from the side, but hopefully not.

many Mods will be avaible soon. USI, OPK, POE,... think these will be first with great own content.
PRMM is nice, but most are tweaks of BF2-Content...

Re: Something playable soon...?
new exceptional ww2 FPS? as i said - there is no present/past set FPS of any real note set to release for quite a while (armed assualt is the next for me - definitely no ww2 FPS coming anytime soon) so no mod has anything to fear when it comes to upcoming releases.Originally posted by SiberianI'm just saying threre are many developers out there and new stuff is in the works for sure. At the end of the day new release mods have one distinct advantage over new release games - they are free. So sit back and just appreciate the fact that there are people out there kindly donating their free time to bring you games you dont have to pay for and are not obliged to do so - end of story.

Re: Something playable soon...?
I personally find the PRMM to be a good concept, if lots of people played and were into playing as a team, but for pubbing I found it too slow. The full MOD of it will kick some ass im sure, I just didnt dig the gameplay of the MINI version personally.
I think 2142 will be great, then again, I really like playing BF2 as well. Im older though, so I tend to complain a little less. Plus, MOD work shows you how many hours and tweaks and coffee must go into a full release like BF2. Even with a monster budget, its a daunting project.
MODs are very close, NAW has a huge amount of content, and did it very fast. THe BF2 engine has lots of life in it, dont sweat it. Or go ahead and sweat it, I dont care really. Im so tired of these posts.
I could stop reading the forums, like so many other mature gamers I know. Who wants to listen to the ramblings of kids so young, there not aloowed out past sun down, lol.
