Anyone with XP 64bit notice faster loading?

just like the title says, i recently try XP 64bit, and i notice that the game loads a bit faster than regular XP.

There is an increase in performance, not in BF2 but in all your other 64 bit application that you run, this leaves more resources for BF2 to use therefore an increase in performance.

Which applications actually run in 64bit? I mean, the drivers will be and some of the "control and admin" apps might, but really, what else will need 64bit computing?

I read that most of it is core 32bit (backwards compatible) with the exception of "demonstrating" software to show increase in specific software.

All XP64 system proccesses are 64 bit.

I also run PuTTY 64bit in the background constantly,
I have 64 bit versions of both Firefox and Thunderbird (they fly by the way)

Cool, can you point me to a good 64bit antivirus preferably free , im runing Avast, but not sure if is tha good, and also it says that it will expired in like two months

NOD32 I think is a very good antivirus program (with a 64 bit version as well) its very fast and light. Although its not free.

As for a firewall, well I dont think one exists for 64bit or at least I havent found one.

Hey bro im using an X-fi with 64 bit no problems man. they have a 64bit driver. And for software, like the X-fi control in windows, i use the one that came in the CD and works fine

Come on guys, i know someone here knows a good free 64bit anti that i could use, Thanks in advance

I don't have XP 64 but I do have an athlon 64 3400+... I load in first every game pretty much.

I was running the x64 beta for a while and the only real difference I noticed was like you said the loading times. I was among the first 2 or 3 players in most levels. Back to normal XP it loads slower but the game performance seems to be the same

I use the XF-i 64 bit drivers as well, they work great.

No XF-i drivers for Linux though Hopefully they will be released soon

The reason the load times are faster in x64, is the memory bandwidth is slightly higher in x64, so naturally the game will load a bit faster.

x32 applications running in x64 are NOT faster. Infact they are usually a bit slower since it has to emulate x32 in x64.

I ran x64 and noticed it was a bit faster loading, but went back to x32 when trying to see if x32 was better at overclocking, and never decided to go back.

Well i tried the drivers from thier site then installed the disk, but when im playing my game crashes

Make sure you have 64bit drivers for everything, the 64bit drivers for the FX-i work perfectly fine with BF2.
