I'm trying to get my explosives badge and am wondering if the kill still counts if you end up blowing yourself up in the process.

Yes, it still counts. You'll get your kills for all enemies you blew up, but also receive a suicide for yourself (which is a -2 on your teamwork score). So if you do a suicide jeep into a vehicle with one enemy, you'll get one kill, one suicide and an overall total of zero points (two points for the kill, minus two for the suicide). But you'll still be 1/13th of the way to your explosives badge.

Do it the easy way!

CLAYMORES!

They're indestuctible, and if you plant them properly, they make entire regions of the map uncrossable!

If you are deterred from accessing whole sections of a map because of a few claymores you're probably going to die in stupid ways anyway. So don't sweat it.
