    A Promise & A Challenge

Man did I have some good rounds today. I scored 150+ in around at Karkand while playing as sniper. For those that know me, you know that I play sniper. I can usually rack up around 80-110 points, but that 150+ was a pretty good accomplishment for me.

Sadly, it was bitter sweet. I was accused of hacking by 6 or so people.

As I was exiting the server, I had an epiphany. Why not reveal the number one secret of being a good player in BF2 (dare I say great?). This secret applies to any class, any map and, actually .. any game.

    The secret is: Practice.

I will make a promise, here and now. If any of you spend 1 month playing the same exact class on the same exact map, you will become an great player and will be accused of cheating too.

So, here's the challenge. Pick a class that you think it's impossible to score amazing points and help the team with. Then, pick a map that you love. I promise you that if you play that class on that map religously for a month, you will be accused of cheating by the end of the month. It also helps to pick a server and only play on that server -- you will start remembering names and start remember who goes where and how to stop certain people from doing certain things (these people will be the ones that accuse you).

Here's where the tricky part kicks in. Even if you get stomped by something, even get ripped up by another class, never switch your class. Always find away around your situation. Always find a way to bypass that which you can kill and find a way to kill that which you can.

Your goal is to find the trade secret of playing the class that you choose.

    Do you accept the challenge?

    are you drunk tonight?

i noticed i was 15 hours with engineer so I thought I'd try to score the vet badge. I was VERY surprised how easy it was to knock people down with that US shotgun. Still hate the class though =)

          Hm...

Its just a saying, I am sure what he meant was- "Prctice BF2 enough and youll be a better player."

Its not that hard to understand that.

As for the challenge. I think Im going to accept it.

I believe you. You can grow custom to a class and be good at it.

You probably cheat though... lol just kidding.

I need my hours up as a sniper for my vet badge so I may as well give it a go.

Thats how I am... pretty much for the past 3 months, I have only been going to Dedicated Wake 24/7 (there are exceptions). I normally fly the F-35B because of its huge disadvantage, and I think its fun when you actually kill J-10's with it.

As you may know, I went 99-0 yesterday, and I got accused of hacking like crazy... hell, even just earlier "OMFG METALLICA IS HACKING!"... I can't stand when people think you hack.. but when they say that, you know you are good. You spend the majority of your BF2 time doing the exact same scenario, and you get extremely good at it after time... so good, that people think you are hacking.

EDIT: Oh and ya, I accept the challenge. I have my expert sniper, support, and medic. I'm about 50 hrs on my engi, and about 25 on everything else... I'm not sure what to do next. I'll probably just finish with engi... then.....ahh idk.

Never been accused of hacking, I think my enemies have sort of come to accept that I'm just that damn good with the support kit.

                    I accept your challenge.

I will accept your challenge if and only if
The server dont give me a ping of 150++

Guys, he talking about a kit that "cant" be used efficiently usually. Sniper, engi, whatever.

I picked mine as AT, since this is the most "suckish" in my record of them all.

                          Re: A Promise & A Challenge

This actually brings up an interesting feature of the human psyche (in life, love, player, work, etc) ...

We only excel in doing things on a consistent basis when our options are limited.

There are many different sides to the above statement so it's easy to argue such a bold claim, although I think for the most part it is true (barring extreme situations such as 'luck' and 'force', thus the consistency part is underlined).

Some of the finest programmers in this world have learned their skill on some of the slowest, ugliest, smallest and unstable computers in existence. They were presented with a challenge and overcame it very gracefully. On the other hand, you have folks that have 10 monster rigs all hooked up to 5 21 inch monitors lined up on the desk and they end up creating buggy/unusable software.

It may seem that I veered a bit off topic late in the night, but I think I'm still on point...

By playing as a sniper, I have a few distinct limitations and boundaries that I cannot cross, so I need to find alternate ways of achieving an objective.

                          Here's an example:

I was being hunted by a tank on Karkand. I ducked him a couple of times using the usual evasive maneuvers by running between buildings until figuring out where I am is only guess work. Then, I snuck up behind him using some anticipation that I was taught as playing sniper for so long. After running from tanks for a while, you notice a pattern that most tankers follow when they twist their turret around and around.

Anyhoo, I jumped on the guys turret, right above the hatch without him noticing.

He drove me all the way down to the Hotel, at which point I jumped off the turret and hopped into the Hotel flag (probably the only flag on the map that is completely inaccessible to armor). Since I jumped from the turrent, I avoided the claymores, capped the flag and giggled at how lucky I got.

These are the kind of moments I loved ever since bf1942.
