Problem - When ever I start the laptop it says

    Microsoft MS-DOS 7.1

    Copy Right Microsoft

    Re: Help!

i think that either means windows isnt installed (did you get it with windows installed?)

or its not set to boot from C drive, but I think its the first one. of course ive never had that happen to me so im not positive.

      Re: Help!

I have a Toshiba notebook, I have never had that problem, but You can tap F8 for your start up choices, try going to Last Known Configuration. If all else fails Toshiba laptops have a fair recovery system which might let you reformat without losing your documents. Toshiba is also pretty nice with tech support, if your warranty ended they wont hang up on you.......GOOD LUCK

        Re: Help!

Looks like the previous owner installed MS Dos for you.

          Re: Help!

either they deleted the Windows OS and installed DOS, or it's on there and it's just set up wrong.

If I remember correctly, type in win.exe when you get to the prompt. That should make windows run. If it don't, then your SOL.
