Raptor advice

I have a WD 230GB SATA drive, I am thinking about getting a raptor drive and load my OS on it with my MOST play video games, BF2 :) and put all my media and video on the other one. Just want to know if I get this will my other hard drive have ANY effect on it performance?

Which raptor are you looking at? The way you phrased your question is kind of odd, do you mean will your old drive affect the raptors performance?

I am looking at this one. And yes will my old drive running as slave, which I know that SATA does not need a master or slave, but it will run second. Have any effect or performance issue? If so what you all suggest?

It will run just fine, like jimmy said. Still, its only going to shave off a few seconds on load times, and bootup etc...

You seem to have a really kick ass computer, so a raptor might make sense to get that extra mile of performance, but I would probably hold off personally. A dual core upgrade would probably yeild more performance improvements outside of games.

I'm pretty much anti raptor unless you have everything else, and you seem to qualify for a raptor under my rules but im still not a fan of one.

You seem to have a really kick ass computer, so a raptor might make sense to get that extra mile of performance, but I would probably hold off personally. A dual core upgrade would probably yeild more performance improvements outside of games.

I used to feel the same way, but I'm going to be picking up one of the 150GB raptors soon.

Funny you say that, I just ordered my AMD Athlon FX-60 CPU also. Do not want to hear about the Opteron CPU's. I went with the FX for the LONG term. At least 3 years I will get my best out of it. Should get it by Monday or Tues. Also thinking about adding another Gig of ram, that should end my upgrading for a LONG time.

Well....I can not prove that this FX can out perform the 180. Its late and don't fell like looking for proof. But if you can show me how the Opteron 180 can out perform the FX-60. Please do.

Only diffrence between the 2 is 200Mhz clock speed which can be fixed easily, gaurenteed.

The are essentaly the exact same processor.
