harddrive!

ok so i take the thickish gery clabe that goes into my current harddrive and find a connector on it that is not pluged into the harddrive or motherboard? heres what im think ing....


ok i have the robbion going into the motherboard onto the primary ide slot, the primary one has my cd-roms. my harddrive is a sata i think because the drive plkugs straight into the mother board and ther is no ribbon cord thing.. i need to know what to do!

it is also the only drive on that ribbon, im gunna try makeing it a master and see what that does....NOTHING!

check the pins...i belive its ethier 20 or 24 pin connecter....also make sure the HD isnt dead.

hd is alive, i need to know how to connect is as a slave, the jumper is setup as slave but how do i connectit with ribbon? my other hdd is a sata, i dont know how to make a IDE a slave to a sata....

You have 2 IDE channels. Primary and Secondary. Put your new HD as a master on the primary and you CD drive(s) on the secondary channel.
Master is the connector at the end of the cable,m slave in the on e in the middle.
Do not put the CD-rom and hard drive on the same channel.


Your other SATA drive is irrevelant.

i would put it as master but i need it as a slave. i thried it as master on the primare IDE but no luck i need it to be a slave because i cant put a OS on it. it is locked and i need it as a slave to unlock it first....
