    Oblivion AA+HDR and X1800 GTO = Flashable

Some news for those interested in ATI cards.

download that driver to make it work

also X1800 GTO can flash to X1800 XL, and for 200 at monarch computers its a hell of a bargain as an X1800 XL whoops on any card in the 200 price range.

Meh, that looks okay, nvidia users can still have bloom+aa, so it's almost the same thing. Besides the 7600gt is pretty damn good, don't really think it can be beaten.

i thought x1800 and up could do it already, without a stupid flash or driver update?

      Oblivion is beautiful though.

well the hardware was always capable, the devs of oblivion were the ones who said due to their implementation it was impossible

HDR looks a hell of a lot better than bloom in Oblivion. The colors look completely muted without HDR.

I'm wondering what the performance is like though, the high-end cards were already getting owned by Oblivion with just HDR on...

Before this "Chuck" driver release, no PC graphics card could do HDR+AA at the same time in Oblivion. It uses a different HDR technique than that of Splinter Cell, Farcry, and the other couple of games whose names escape me.

It's damn sure beaten by the X1800 GTO flashed to a X1800 XL. And it's even beating by the GTO unflashed:

Thats right, and the X1800/X1900 barely takes a performance hit with HDR+AA compared to HDR only.

Here are some updated Oblivion benches with the new patch:

Oblivion is a damn good game, I can say its the best adventure game I played all year, and when I get bored I'll go hang out with the hood in bf2.

No one should miss out on Oblivion.
