Your "friend" is lying to you. Either that or his bf2 looks like a slide show. I am running 7800's in SLI and at those settings the herky-jerkies are beginning to be noticable.

Something is wrong with your PC then. SLI 7800s should be running BF2 with absolutely no hickup at all with settings like that.

My settings are: Geometry on high, Effects on high, Terrain on high, and everything else at medium. The resolution is 1280x1024@70hz and AA is at 4x. Runs great! No stuttering or slowdowns in large firefights.

El_m_ent, you must have something seriously screwing your performance up if you struggle to max the settings with 2x 7800 cards in SLI... I run a single 7800GT and have everything maxed and never see a hint of stuttering, even at places where lots of people complain about it like just about any SF map (and particularly below decks on Iron Gator).

I think RAM helps quite a bit though (2gig for me)... but then I'm guessing that you must have a fair amount if you've got dual 7800s...

I have an X800XL, 3.2ghz P4 and 2GB ram, and I run everything on High at 1024X768 with 2X AA and I always have smooth framerates. I Dont know the exact rates but maybe 50-80 consistently??

There is something wrong with your system if you can't maintain a butter smooth game with that setup.

As an owner of a pair of 7800GTX cards in SLI, I have to agree with you. I can run those settings in 1600X1200 with great FPS.

Thats not even a performance comparision. How people rate a card really means nothing when compared to another card.

ok, when someone claims to be able to run everything on high, its automatically assumed that the person is also able to attain a good framerate at those settings. i had an x850xt pe a few months back and id run the game at 1280x1024 with everything maxed out except shadows off, and dynamic lighting set at medium and I would get stutter. the stutter was mainly due to me having 1 gig of ram but still, i couldnt feel my framerates dropping once more than 10-15 people were having a shootout in the same area.
somehow i doubt you run everything on high with that card. just having shadows turned up to high will half your framerate

Have a look at the bottom half of that page, there are 3Dmark05 scores for both cards shown there..

3Dmark scores are not always a good indicator of actual game performance.

I would have a really good run on 3dmark, then go in game and my framerate would tank, like Wreck said.
