Where did you here this? Everything I've read said am2 is ddr2 only.

No its support DDR as well, even Overclockers.co.uk told me this. But when I move to AM2, i may buy either these 3 brands:

Voodoo
Mesh
Alienware

It will cost a lot more for Voodoo and Alienware, but I don't mind saving up for either of these brands and AMD 64 AM2.

Am2 is DDR2 only. There were rumors 1-2 years ago that AMD might go with a hybrid design, but all indications (we are only 2 months from launch) is that this will be DDR2 only. DDR3 support down the line is up in the air, but I highly doubt it. For now count on the chips being DDR2 compatible.

K8L, the 65nm chips that ship mid 2007 should be AMD's response to Conroe. However its still too early to tell if it will beat conroe.

Sure go ahead. I don't see why people keep comparing AM2 to Conroe. One is a new socket and the other is a whole new core design. They are not made to compete with each other.

the competition with Conroe will come when AMD releases it's new chip for AM2.

bah, i won't update for AM2, but i will upgrade GPU for DX10, im quite happy with a processor thats better then an FX-60
