    windows doesn't shut down

hey fellas lately I 've been having this problem of windows xp not shutting down. It says the usual "Windows is shutting" but nothing happens so I have to press the power button every time. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

    dude go to www.pcpitstop.com
register its free and they can sort out ur problem in the forums but you need to put a techexpress link up, its probely something like internet explorer not shutting down, have you opened your task manager to see what processers are running?

try ending all your programmes on your task bar like firewall anti virus etc to see if its one of them. before logging off.

The holy grail of all problems when you are running a windows OS is to format your hard drive and reinstall windows. It's a simple, painless process and will save many, many, many hours of troubleshooting and pulling your hair out.

Just don't forget to backup your data.

You could also just drop the win os altogether and install a linux distro and never worry about crashes, viruses, adware, spyware, etc again :) Gaming won't be easy though
