Yeah, it's fine... for an older Intel system. It has a relatively low single 12v rail and was designed pre-AMD 64. Thats the reason so many of the reviews are explaining how this PSU dies after a couple of months. The Newegg reviews speak for themselves.

Eh, I've had one in my system for over a year without any problems... Maybe they recently switched component manufacturers or something...

I have a 520watt in my Intel rig and it's been running great for about a year also. All I'm saying is I wouldn't recommend it for an AMD system with their current stock. They may have changed manufacturers to cut cost like you said.

Just to add some more info, newegg now breaks down their reviews into what percent of rating the product got, for the Modstream.

- Excellent 69.62% 55 votes
- Good 12.66% 10 votes
- Average 8.86% 7 votes
- Poor 6.33% 5 votes
- Very Poor 2.53% 2 votes

So assuming that failed units got a poor or very poor, that's only 7 out of 79. Not to mention people are much more likely to post a review if something fails, rather than if it works properly.

Right, but if you read the reviews some of the failed units got average ratings also. The failures are more like 10 out of 79 and they are all recent.

I was actually thinking of getting a cooler master, looks simple and nothing to fancy
