So who's exited, i personally can't wait. There was a website, someone got a samply of the one that runs at 2.6, it completed pi calculation in 21 seconds i believe. Hopefully it does not take too long for it to come out.

It was 2.4Ghz actually.

yes it was set up by Intel, but anandtech.com is a very relieble source and they said they couldn't find anything fishy with the setup. Although they did do a followup article to fix some scores.

Looks like we may have some skewed results here on that unsupported Intel 965 chipset. Here's an update from the XS thread.

bios still need to be updated.
the system performance not so stable.
sometime fast and sometime slow.
pi_32m running very slow, so I gave up the test.

some other test result may aslo be incorrect.

With respect to everyone else i guess i should have known better than to talk about intel on a AMD dominated site.

I do hope when it comes out, it smacks AMD, i am sick an tired of AMD this AMD that.

I was just trying to be sarcastic. I was planing on my next system to be an AMD, but if when core comes out, performs the same way as in the benchmarks i will build another intel rig.

Conroe isn't still in developement. Everything about the chip is finalized to the point that someone has sold one on ebay already. I'm not even bashing Intel, I have a damn Intel machine myself. What I am saying is don't believe the hype until reliable results come out or you will be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Every general hardware enthusiast site is AMD dominated, so good luck. And I don't mention AMD anywhere in this thread.

Yeah and to go off of that, we just have to wait for real benchmarks in the next few months. My sarcastic comment was my reaction to the insignificance of Superpi as a quantitative benchmark for the average gamer/enthusiast.

Unless someone competes with superpi/3dmark scores, its pretty much irrelevent. I'm waiting for some BF2, Quake 4, MP3 encoding, H.264 encoding real world tests etc...

I think Conroe is going to slap AMD around next round, but we just dont know by how much yet.

The reason many people are biased towards AMD is that for the last ~3 years they have been the performance leader, and until Intel can finally deliver they will be skeptical. There are also those who take a personal attachment to their hardware for purely intrinsic reasons, or pure fanboyism.

I think the question is not if Conrose will beat AM2, but but how much and will AMD's K8L response in mid 2007 be enough to take back the crown.

I look at it this way, AMD has come too far to just hand over the chip battle to Intel. It's the same battles with car manufactures. GM has built some great cars in the past, but lately they are falling behind. Soon they'll try and take over the top honors once again. But the best thing about this battle is us consumers will be getting awesome products. We are the winners.
