Need a better Graphics Card.

I currently have the NvIDIA FX 5200 graphics card, and I have the game on the lowest possible settings and the game still lags. I need a new card,AGP or something that costs between $250-350. It would be nice to have the best graphics on the game, but I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars for a card. I could use all the feed back I can get on this. Thanks.

What kind of slot in your mobo do u have..... PCI, PCI Express, or AGP?

i'm guessing its AGP, cuz i've never seen many PCI-E 5200's
i would go with 7800GS. American dollars right?

He already said agp, so my recommendation would be either a 6600gt or a 6800gs.

go with the one i mentioned above... you can later use it still when you upgrade to PCI-E. just buy one of those APG-PCI-E bridges.

i used to have a 5200 too, i upgraded to a 6600gt a while back. works pretty well for bf2...should let you play on medium settings decently.

but i would say go for a 6800gs now if you can afford it.

they stopped making the 6800's and 7800's because the

7600 => 6800gs
7300 = 6200
7600gs (sorta, 7400) => 6600 (kinda thats a bad comparison)
7800 < 7900
thats PCIe remember

and the prices are basically the same.
I would go with a 6800gs if you can find one, or a 6600gt. or for ATi, a x800GTO or something.

^^^Besides the equality in performance of earlier models to current ones, the cost of production is also a reason to stop making cards. This current generation contain as die shrink which will net them more video cards from the same piece of silicon. For that reason the cost of production for the new 7900 series is less and brings Nvidia more profit. It's not cost effective to continue to make 6800 and 7800 series cards.
