Memory:
3 x 184-pin DDR DIMM sockets support up to 3 gb of unbufferred non-ECC DDR memory.

to me that means ....

a.3 ram slots can only be used if my 3 ram bars are pc2100/1600
b.pc3200 can only use 2 slots with 2x512 max
c.can only support 1 slot when using a 1gb 3200/2700 stick

so if you want to use 2x1gb 3200 you will need a new mobo,
and if you want to use 1x1gb + 2x512mb(3200) again you will need a new mobo.

if i was you i would use the 1gb stick on its own for now it will be faster than than 2x512.

scenario.
a.if u had 3x512mb(2100) it would work
b.if u had 2x512mb(3200)it would work (as you already no)
c.if you had 1x1gb(3200)it would work(as you tryed)

but you canot youse any other configuration that what i have wrote above^ unless you get a differnt mobo.

Yeah after reading the directions that's what I was concluding on, and I was thinking about getting a different MOBO, can anyone find a decent mobo that has 4 X 184 pin DIMM slots and supports socket 478 P4 prescotts? Newegg totally messed up their site with the new finder, confusing, and doesn't have all the options as before.

Yes, that board will support 2x1gb sticks of RAM. If you're going to buy another 1gb stick, get one that is identical to the one you already have. That will save you some potential headaches and possible performance issues.

but this state that it will only support 1x1gb ram??
and if it did support 2x1gb ram then why wont it support 3x512 ram(all 3200)???

If you want a good 478 board that supports 4 gigs, try this one. I've got 2 of them and have had zero problems with them. Lots of features for a decent price.

Was looking at that same one, you think I could put my 512's and 1 gig on that? Here's what I got (new ram) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145505 and the other ram is 512mb each of viking.

You shouldn't have any problems, but I can't say for sure. You always run that risk when you mix and match RAM. Too be absolutely certain, I would buy another 1gb stick to match the one you already have.

IDK, I may hold off and get a summer job, save for a car and then build another computer that'll last many many years.
