    1. He would see artifacts first, not freezing.
2.7600GTs come factory overclocked as high as 600/1560, they are fine at those speeds on stock cooling.

well I see the CPU is OCed to 2.3ghz. post what FSB speed you have now... what the ram speed and timings are... what sound card you are using and what settings for it... any other programs in the background that would do this (IE: like every 30 secondd it does its thing, and then stops)?

Game freezing like that is usually due to a high unstable memory overclock. What are the following bios settings?

          CPU multi/voltage
          HTT/LDT multi
          Ram divider

                  What is your ram config?

                  4x512 or
                  2x1Gb

How are you at 2.3Ghz with no overclock?

                    Re: Errrr, stupid PC

when I first got my new computer built it did this for a while. I bought a new PSU and it went away.

Mother: My brother's 7600GT was OC'ed to those speeds when he bought it, and hasn't had a bit of trouble from it.

                            Re: Errrr, stupid PC

my PSU was below the listed minimum, I think that's why mine went away once I upgraded mine.
