    Errrr, stupid PC

OK, just got all my parts for my birthday ( wednesday ), and just recently it has been "freezing" for about 30 seconds then goin back. I run all high at 1024x768 with about 70FPS, and out of nowhere the screen will freeze.

I'm on Ventrilo and I can still hear them talkin but in about 15 seconds later, the sound will "freeze" in a way, like the sound of the turret on the backhawk is what it sounds like, then it will go back to normal..

Any idea why it's doin this?

What new parts did you install? I'm assuming graphics card was one of them, if so did you uninstall old drivers and install new? Are you using the 84.21 drivers?

Wait a minute.....Did you overclock that video card???? ....eVGA 7600 GT CO 610/ 1580 Put back to stock setting or it will burn out if it didnt already!!!!!!!!!!!!

              newegg specs
              Stock = Chipset Manufacturer NVIDIA
              GPU Geforce 7600GT
              Core clock 580MHz
              PixelPipelines 12
              Memory
              Memory Clock 1500MHz
              Memory Size 256MB
              Memory Interface 128-bit
              Memory Type GDDR3

I say do a disk defrag and possibly check the outputs legs from power suppply for video card they must not drop below 11.8v 450pw supply may not be cutting it.

i already dropped it back down to stock, just to see if it would work.

                  Yeah, try out the 84.12s.

610/1580 is nothing that should cause problems.

So you did a fresh install when you changed everything over I would assume.

What are the amperage rating on the PSU?

Ahh Hell yes its a 6800 not 7800 over clocking that card that much from being over clocked from the start without the approiate cooling will make the card run hotter and will produce black screen once it meets its threshold tempeture especialy if your not even supplying the proper power supply.

Heh, do you know what the threshhold temp is? Around 120C, no way it would get that hot on stock cooling. He would start throwing out artifacts long long long before any damage was done. That is a prefectly reasonable overclock for stock cooling.

I don't care what you are, I'm not arguing that the PSU might be the culprit. I'm telling you that is a perfectly reasonable overclock for stock cooling, and heat wouldn't be an issue. I would assume a support analyst could read better....

That meets the minimum requirments, barely. Do you by chance have a multimeter?

why do you say heat wouldnt be the issue?
how many fans does he have and is there good proper ventilation?
If the the VGA is under powered its strugeling to work thus making it hotter because it not working full strength

like making a little boy lift 75 bs he may be able to do it but... how well!? and how fast does he get tired?
