    Cpu temp

Is 40C too hot for a cpu when i have it overclocked by 300mhz? i increased the vcore by 6% also. what should a northwood usually run at?

No thats fine. (Idle or load) if thats load, thats good, if its idle its still fine.

yes I wouldnt idle TOO much more, but that tempis perfectly fine especially for an OC. you could probably bring the vcore down to 5% though.

My 3200+ idles at 56-60C and is around 63C at load. AMD told me personally not to worry until the temp. goes over 75C.

Been stable like that for 3 years now.

Probably a faulty temperature sensor reading.

seems as though i just found out that my temps are backwards. my mainboard temp is really my CPU temp and my cpu temp is my mainboard team... just checked my bios. Must be a PCwizard bug.

Ok then it's 55 C which is a little high, but not that bad for the prescott core Intels.

No. I have talked to a few others with the 3200+ and they also report close to the same temperatures.

Well for reference my dual core opteron @ 2.8Ghz runs at:

                      idle: 32c

                      single load: 42c

                      dual load: 48c
