overclocking to 2.7 ghz on air lol

Well i got my new cpu cooler, arctic freezer pro 64, and it, excuse me for the language, ****ing OWNS..... i can get my cpu stable on 2.7 ghz without crashes in a 12:43 hour durating stress test....and it doesnt exceed 46 C but my question is can i overclock this much with my ram...its valueram without heatsinks, but i have put a blowing fan infront of my case right next to my ram sticks, and the ram doesnt feel really hot during stress to be honest but are there any other things i'd have to worry about ????

when u sayn a blowing fan infront of ur case onto ur RAm, is it like an office far ot waht, cos if it is ur guna have big probs cause alot of dust will be getting into ur components otherwise.

i woulndt oc the ram tgat much, but it would probably crash even with the fan

Why not just use a divider on the ram, that way you won't have to worry about it.

ya looked all over the city for them, couldnt find 'em anywhere... looks like i gotta order them online.... oh right and the ram doesnt crash at 2.7 ghz but i was worried i might damage the ram not with heat but with just letting it run to fast, or would it crash if i'd overstress it ? because it doesnt crash so than my problem would be solved.

A Divider is not a physical object... it is a method of underclocking your ram so that it stays in sync with the cpu when it cannot be overclocked to the same speed.

If you're at 2.7 (assuming a 2.2 stock MHz) I would just stick with that if you have value ram. You're not going to get any better performance unless, in all liklihood, unless you upgrade your ram.

Overclocking is fun. Just know that it will shorten the life of your motherboard, CPU, RAM and anything else that has an OC'ed integrated circuit by about 20% on average.

Yeah that's kind of wierd because I gained 500 points in 3DMark05, -10 seconds in SuperPI, and 20fps in FEAR. Last time I checked PC hardware needs to be updated every 2 years and I've been running a Celeron 300A @ 500 MHz for nearly 7 years. Sorry to inform you, but you're a complete idiot.

Here is the math.

Take a $180 Opty 144, throw a $50 cooler on it, and OC it to 3.0 MHz, where you are officially smoking a $900 FX-57 in single threaded programs like games.

If I burn it out, I don't care, because I have enough money left over to do it three more times and still come out ahead. But by then the FX-57 will be $180 and I'll be OC'ing that instead.

Got it?
