i used the search funciton but i coudnt find any threads specific to my problem. when i first got my dell 9300 about 8 months ago, i installed bf2 after fresh reformat and it ran full settings and res at great fps. after awhile it got really unplayable but defragging the HD fixed it somewhat. i recently ordered another gig of ram making for 2 1gig sticks running in dual channel, and it certaintly helped, but im still getting odd stuttering here and there. maybe every 30 seconds or so, enough to affect my gameplay. i renamed the .exe file, i set pb_sleep to 500, i have everything on medium, dynamic light/shadow on low, res at 1280x1080 (or something like that i forget) and have no pagefile. when it stutters the HD light is NOT on. rest of my specs are a 1.6 Pentium M (im told its equivalent to a p4 2.8 gaming wise) 6800nu overclocked, and a widescreen lcd if that matters. should i edit my .exe for widescreen ratio? should i turn software soud to medium? ive reinstalled and defragged bf2/patch multiple times, but nothing helps, its frustrating because it seems i bought another gig of ram and didnt get major imporvements, i thought it would solve everything. if anyone could help id be most appreciative!

What pings are you getting from the servers you are joining?
when are you getting the stutering? dureing fire fights, when your alone on the map? etc. -

im getting 32 ping usually, and only join linux servers as they dont have verifying file stage. (even with 2gb im getting somewhat lengthy load times, like 2-3 minutes). i get the stuttering in all situations so i dont think its firefight related. im running memtest on my new ram tonite, ill report back if its faulty or notComment

It does have verifying data its just quickerand only join linux servers as they dont have verifying file stage.

What resolution is your monitor? 1680x1050 by any chance? Its possible that your video card just cant keep up with such a high res with decent FPS.
What you should try are the latest drivers for your video card and motherboard. Get the motherboard drivers from Dell, off the downloads for the 9300, but make sure to get the latest nvidia drivers from either nvidia (if they work with your card) or use a modified 3rd party driver.
Dell typically has 6 month to a year out of date video drivers on their downloads page because they are lazy bastards.
Make sure you have your intel chipset driver from Dell, without it you can never expect gaming performance.
You could try running 3dmark to make sure your in the ballpark, compare your score to others with similar hardware and see if you can keep up, if you are totally out of the ballpark you have something setup wrong after your format.
You probably want to try 3dmark 2001 as well as 2003/5/6. 2001 is a complete system benchmark where as the others are 97.654899% video card.Comment

Since this is a laptop, and you oc'ed your graphics card I'm willing to bet that it's overheating and slowing itself down automatically to prevent damage.Comment

i have a 1920x1200 native res 17" monitor, but my 6800go has 256 onboard memory. so it should support that high of a res. my 3dmark05 scores were actually on the upper end of the scores that are usual for machine of my setup. i thought it might be the overheating, but i alt tabbed and checked temps of my card and they were still in the 53 degrees celcius range.
i think i found the problem. my new ram came up with 5 errors in 8 passes...so time to rma to newegg. damn gskills, people recommended yoouo!!! ill update again later when new ram gets here and tell if theres any more problemsComment
