    How hot is too hot.

I was just wondering If anyone could tell me how hot an x800xl should get. currently mine is idling at 46c 100%fan and 65c load 100%fan I know I need to clean my heatsink out but I hate taking my video card out, perhaps someone could tell me I wont screw my video card up from taking it out to clean it.

For a video card 65c load is fairly cool, you don't need to worry.

Um easy way to clean it, use a dust gun, now (VERY IMPORTANT), HOLD THE FAN, don't let it spin when it's not on, dust from the fan part of heatsink, and the fins, dust should come out. THat's what i do to my X800XL. My X800XL coupled with my nice airflow, i get idle 36C (it used to be 30C idle, but i havn't been not-lazy enough to clean it since November '05) and load 48C (used to be around 42-45C).

Somebody supposedly ran their vid card at over 90C, u can run vid cards at very high temps, they just wont last as long. But MY ADVICE, i would get a vid card cooler (preferably VF-700 CU or the VF-900CU when it comes out) after u hit 70C load, and before buying one, clean out ur cooler with a dust gun, then see if the temps drop. If they do, then don't buy a new vid card.
