LCD monitor response times - how fast?

Hello everyone. I'm going to get a new LDC monitor and I'm not sure how fast of response time is really fast enough. I'm not sure I would even notice but I just want to get a good one.. I'm unsure between a 2ms 19" and a 20" 8ms wide screen model.. Is the 8ms fast enough to not have any ghosting or other issues? Any suggestions. Thanks.

I'm using a Digimate 1916D with both D-sub and DVI connections. If I remember correctly, the response time is 16ms.

However, when I tried watching movies on the D-sub connection, the ghosting was terrible. Same for when I tried playing games on it (half life 2, walls would blur as I moved)

When I played the same games and movies at the same settings but over the DVI connection, the picture was sharp, crisp and no ghosting was observed :)

The 8ms 20" model should be good enough for playing movies and games, but i'm a bit dubious about that 2ms claim for the 19" LCD.. (seems unrealistically low) I remember reading somewhere that different companies can measure their ms response time in 3 different ways and hence are not directly comparisable unless they are measuring the same thing

Thanks, I have been looking into it a lot. The 2ms model is just coming out. I was leaning towards the 20" at 8ms due to the widescreen. I'm just worried about the ghosting... I will use the dvi connection as well.

I've read a couple peoples reviews saying 8ms is not fast enough and others saying it's great.... i'm just not sure. thanks.

Anything under 12ms and you won't see any ghosting, but most people reccommend 8ms or lower.

8 ms is more than enough , the guy at the computer store said his monitor was a 15 ms and even that was more than enough , i dont think there is a big difference between 8 ms and 2 ms

BF2 does not support widescreen, you either have to have everything squished or miss out on part of the picture.

The 2ms is very very very good, but the 8ms is fine, easily fast enough, and you wouldnt get any ghosting.

I have a Viewsonic VX922 19" 2ms LCD monitor and I love it. Like others have said though, I don't believe there is much difference between 8ms or 2 ms.

8ms will be sufficient in terms of buying it today.

Samsung Syncmaster 913N 19" 8ms here. I've never noticed ghosting and very I'm happy with it. A couple of other people I know have bought the same and they're also pleased with theirs. Look for an 8ms or less and I'm sure you'll be happy.
