    Quesion about processors

i have a pentium mobile processor 2.26 ghz. My dad was telling me because its a mobile one, its basicly like a 3.5 or something for a desktop computer. Is this tru?

Not, unless you compare to some old non-HT pentiums which had a half smaller cache than Pentium M. Or you may having a Pentium Duo Mobile 2.6 then it is faster than 3.5 Pentium IV HT single core. How old is your machine?

my processor/computer is brand new, and i havent had one problem with running any game. i can run Fear and Doom3 bf2 and lots of other high graphics game on maximum graphics. Here are my specs.

      System model. Xps m170
      Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) m processor 2.23GHz
      Graphics card- Nvidia 7800 gtx
      Memory- 2048 RAM

i dont know what else u need. I just at least was hoping it had the power of a 3 GHz. but i havent had a problem with this one yet.

I dont know much about pentium M but that setup for the Dell XPS laptop is excellent. You should be able to play any game at max settings flawlessly.

Yes, Intel's mobile processors are designed for notebooks, so they drain the battery alot less. Because of this, Intel made each clock cycle do more work per cycle. Therefore, the 2.6 CAN do as much, or more work than a P4 with a higher GHz

Well guessing, if my processor was a converted to a desktop, how much power would it have? 2.26 ghz m processor ^ specs above.

I'd guess...and it's purely speculative that you would be as fast as a 3.0 GHz processor. I know that at a 1.8 GHz M chipe is around 2.6 GHz P4

If you want to compare just your CPU, use Sisoft Sandra, you can download it for free. If you run the CPU tests, it will give you a comparison against known hardware.
Remember though, that 3D games really just rely on a decent graphics card, the CPU is important, but less important than it used to be.
