    VGA memory heatsinks

Hey, I need to know if i need thermal tape to apply my VGA heatsinks to the back of my card. One of my friends said that i could use regular 3M double sided sticky tape. Should i not trust my friend and go buy some thermal tape or will the 3M work? Thanks.

You need to get tape made for thermal transfer. The 3M tape will make it stick, but it won't transfer heat as well as thermal tape. You can pick some up at any online shop.

i would think the heatsinks would come with the thermal tape or something to apply them with.

By the way, if you do use it, it probably wont come off. So if you have an issue with the card, they wont take it back. Just FYI

It usually comes off one of two ways. Either heat the card up by playing BF2, and immediatley take it out. The adhesive will be hot and may peel right off. You can also place the card in an antistatic bag and put it in the freezer for about a half hour. This sometimes hardens the adhesive and it will come off that way.
