my card personally? i have an x700 in my laptop could play it medium settings also with a good steady 50-60+ frame rate, not choppy at all.

im lucky though that i have a rather large resolution on my screen on my laptop so it looks good without AA etc.

but then again i havn't played the latest patches on my laptop as my desktop is alot better than it.

Possibly, but it won't be pretty. Although it has 256MB of ram on it, the X1400 isn't that fantastic a chip (kinda like pairing 2GB of RAM with a Celeron 1.3GHz). You'd be better off with a 128MB card with a decent chipset on it, even an old Radeon 9800 Pro or Nvidia FX5700 would fare better, so if you can, return the card and buy a decent second hand card.

you can upgrade them on dell laptops, by either:

              A) Not Buying a Dell

              B) Giving dell a far greater amount of money

No you can't upgrade the graphics on that Dell. You'll be able to play BF2, albeit at lower resolution with a lot of the eye-candy turned off, but it should run at a reasonable FPS with some tweaking.

Oh, one other thing, check to see if your graphics memory is shared, you'd be better off only allocating 128MB to that graphics chip as it won't utilise 256MB properly, the rest of your system will use it better.
