Ok so I have an alienware 7700 that has a geforce go 6800 ultra, an intell 560 3.6ghts processor and two gigs of ram. The game runs completely smooth then I hear the audio blurb and the screen lags and I have lag for around five min then it does the samething and it is crystal clear and so on. I have updated drivers, deleted temp files, defraged, ran numerous virus/spyware programs, changed video settings, had my comp guy look at it and I cant seem to find the problem. What is wierd is that I ran 3D mark (a graphics testing thing) and there was no prob at all. Just when I play games. Also when it gets laggy my ping does not go down. It is usually around 85. Can anyone help?!

Re: Computer problem. Please help! Ran out of ideas
I get that every once in a while, more so when i only had 1GB of ram. I just chalk it up as bad programing by EA, dont worry about it unless its happening frequently. For me at least its once in a blue moon, maybe 1 time for every 10 hours I play... i wouldnt worry about it if your like me.Comment

Originally posted by twsmitReformat, install latest Intel Motherboard drivers, latest nvidia video drivers, and patch windows to latest service pack and all windows updates. Its probably a software issue and better start from scratch.
Good advice- Also, not to be an ass, but Alienware can have lots of problems- My bro -in-law, and a good friend went through hell with them--hope it isn't that, but if the good adivice the person I quoted doesn't work- I would really get on Alienware ASAP

If it isnt software it might be of couse.... hardware.
Are your temps alright? added anything new lately? Does this happen in all games or just BF2?
You could try moving the ram into a different slot on your motherboard, and also try keeping the side door of the case open as a test.
Additionally bios updates for your motherboard would not hurt.Comment
