well, I would wait for vista, because none of those cards are DX10. and I read an article as well that said even the 7900 wont be "vista ready" so to speak. but if you are rich, get the single 7900.

Well im definatly not rich, and i read that article about vista. I realy dont think ill be getting that right when it releases, the smart thing to do is to wait for 5-6 months until the prices drop on the "Vista ready" parts.

save you money and get the 7800 and wait till DX10 cards are out.

Any of those cards will play Vista, they just won't use the DX10 features.

I just noticed that the 7900gt looks much well umm smaller, or atleast the cooler on it. Is it any better then than the 7800? its cheaper i also noticed, im not planning on buying it but i was just curios.

i had two EVGA 7800GT.. they scored 200 marks higher in 3d05 and about 400 marks higher in 3d06 then my new ASUS 7900GTX..

I would say its a toss up...I can always add another 7900GTX later...

There is no reason to wait for Vista, Vista and DX10 are 9+ months away, and DX10 games are 1-2+ years away. Unless you have a primal desire to play FarCry 2 and Unreal 3 the day they come out with all eye candy, DX10 and Vista are nothing to even be thinking about at this point.

I would personally go with the 7900GT only if you can sell off your 7800GT for $200-250. There is not much of a speed improvement, honestly its a rather small upgrade, and is only worth it if you can get $$$ from selling the old parts.

The 7900 series are identicle to the 7800 except that they are a smaller manufacturing process, and therefore cheaper, cooler, and slightly better performing. Clock for clock, pipe for pipe they are essentially 98% identicle in performance.

For SLI i would only go that route if you play 1600x1200 or higher, because honestly SLI is not all thats its cracked up to be. In your position you can spend ~$300 for another 7800GT for a nice 0-40%+ speed improvement (depending on resolution, amount of AA and AF) or you can spend $50-75 assuming you sell off your old card for a nice 10-15%+ performance improvement.

I am personally very anti SLI unless you have a high resolution LCD monitor and want the best possible performance. For most people they play 10x7 or 12x10 resolution and in this context SLI is rather useless.
