BF2 Crash - GT7800GTX problem?

Hi, I've just got my new computer and I'm unable to play battlefield 2. When I load a map and click on the Join Server (after Verifying Client data) my computer lag for about 10 seconds and the sound skip. The maps then apperts but all comes black after 3-5 seconds. My computer is still running, but I've got nothing on my screen. I had to hold the power button for 7 seconds to make it restart and be able to see something on my monitor.
I guess that it's a problem with my video card. It can't be a heating problem cause the game even run for 3 minutes.
I've download drivers 84.21, but it didn't help.
I've search to update the bios of my video card but I didn't find anything.
I also try Live Update 3 from MSI, but it didn't find any bios to update


Please someone help me!!!

Here my specs:
Amd 64 4000+
A8N32-Sli Deluxe gamers
MSI GT7800GTX V2TD256E Bios:5.70.02.11.10
1 gb (2*512mb) Shikaram 400mhz
Antec 550W H-E
Case Antex P-180 with the Power Supply in the bottom of the case (far from the cpu or the video card to have less heating issue)
19' LCD Viewsonic VP930B

Battlefield 2 with the 1.21 patch (number on the top left of the screen: 1.1.2716-548.0)

try rolling the drivers back to the 77.xx series drivers. I use them as there the best yet. and havnt had a problem with them.

after doing that i would try a reinstall of BF2

I rolled back the drivers to 77.56, and unfortunatly, it didn't help much...

I install 3dmark06 to test my system in case of... And it's really a video card problem cause it crash in the first test at about 45 seconds. System try to restart but the screen stay black... :cry:

So, uninstalling BF2 would not correct the situation.

I'm looking for a program that can monitor my pc and when it crash, make a log of witch composent make it crash and for why (heat, drivers, power, etc).

Hope being able to play BF2 soon!!!

Good candidate for your problem right there. I think you pretty much have three good candidates for your problem. CPU/mobo, Ram or video card.

I would run SuperPI to test your ram. Run 32M iterations and see if it passes. Or you can try memtest 86+.

For the CPU prime 95 small torture test for 12 hours+. And for video like you did 3dmark is a good test to run.

If your video card is stock I really doubt its the problem (assumings is not totally faulty) I would bet its the ram at this point, but its possibly the video card, either its overheating or its totally not up to task and needs to be replaced.

One thing to check however is to see if the video card has the appropriate PCIe power connector attached and that it is getting all its power.

yes..good point check all contecters..make sure its pulled in all the way things can become loose.

Thanks, it's was a power supply issue... I had plug the Sli connector on the rail that already had my HD and my DVD-Rom... So I just plug it on 1 of the 2 rail that didn't have anything on it... All work fine! Also, I ran the test for the Cpu and memory without error or warning.

Problems:

Your Ram may have ram errors, but to see. Go to Microsofts site, and they will have a memory test program which is done during boot up.

Another thing it could be a driver problem, some drivers that are not designed to the correct standands will cause your PC to do a memory stop start. Which can restart a PC by itself, or just crash the game.
