Upgrading

My birthday is coming up and Im considering upgrading my computer, right now I play low on just about everything. I want to change that, here are my specs with the upgrades I plan to buy.

Old Specs:
Nforce 2 Mobo AGP 8x
AMD Athlon Xp 2800+ = 2.09GHz
1gb Ram- NEW
BFG 6800gs- NEW
350 watt power supply

How much will this improve my gameplay? I also play other games like cod2 and source games. Im not the best at upgrading my computer, this is an emachine that I am upgrading. If it comes to it, I have around $600 to buy a whole other computer. Thank you for your time.

An upgrade to a PCI-Express based motherboard plus a PCI-E video card would be nice. If you have to stay with the AGP 8x motherboard, the 6800GS you chose is nice, but your RAM will limit you from playing at all high settings. Also, your 350Watt PSU may not be able to handle the loads generated from the new video card and RAM modules.

well the video card is good, and the ram could be better, but as for now dont worry about the gig. the PSU is a little low and I am not sure if it will cause much problem. the bottle neck is the CPU. I would most likely A. Get a New Computer
B. keep the ram but get a new motherboard, GPU (6800gs), CPU.
C. if you have to go with what you posted I would up the PSU wattage and maybe the ram if you can.

Yeah, upgrade your motherboard is a definate. Also a better PSU will help you handle future cards, so get at least a 450W, and if you do that, get a 7600 GT :)

Your post is kinda confusing as to what is in your current computer. Do you think you could post what ram and what video card you currently have?
