Yes it is normal to set the resolution down, after install.
Make sure you uninstall the old drivers first, and use driver cleaner before installing new driver.

The 84.20 BETA ones are available here http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_do...etadriver.html
I have been using them for a couple of weeks and they seem great, gave me about an extra 2-3 fps.

yeah I don't know if that's really accurate unless you benchmark BF2...

On FEAR however, the 84.20 drivers consistently scored 6 fps higher than 82.12 and 83.90. I believe these had some fix that helped FEAR when AA is turned on.

the 84.20 beta's might be out, but this is the 84.21 release. I would probably go with the release. besides, the beta drivers screw up your java.

If you are already using the 84.20, unless you want it to say that the drivers are WHQL'ed in dxdiag, no point in changing. Check the changelog, that is the only difference between the two.

BTW only XP/2000 seams to have been updated to 84.21 at the moment.
