Winxp 64 or regular

To make a long story short, motherboard broke, got mobo out of a brand pc together with windows...motherboard died and now i'm out of an OS.......soo which one should i get, winxp professional or 64-bit... going to the shop tomorrow so please respond soon ! :)

I would say that according to things said in forums all over the Internet, XP64 has a general problem with drivers. Normal XP works best.

Just go with xp pro, at this point xp64 is just a gimmick.

it dont think there is any reason to go pro over home unless u have complex network requirements

Buy XP 32bit and download the free "trial" of XP-64 bit. It lasts something like 90 days or more, and is fully functional.

No one should be using XP-64 bit right now, it just is not mature enough and offers pretty much zero performance improvements as of right now.

The only reason you would need X64 if you need alot of system memory, more than 4 gigs. Wich you dont, so just get regular XP

Ive seen a great boost on some of my programs of cource you wont see much of a boost for programs that only have a 32-bit mode.

As for drivers thats just a mith, yes it was true but you can get a 64-bit driver for just about anything now, heck ive got a 64-bit driver for my Saitek joystick.

The average person doesnt run native 64bit apps, and is not employed in professional content creation.

Also lots of hardware is supported, but simple things like printers are usually not. Its a couple hundred dollars down the drain for pretty much no positive gains.

Sure a 64bit aware copy of 3dstudio max or whatever will give some performance gains, but most people dont run that, esspecially on a BF2 forum.

I agree its not what a regular PC user should run, at least not now, but if you do do a lot of Development work it can help.

I love my x64 BUT I have a x32 box to fall back on, dont rely only on x64 windows only or you'll be frustrated.

i have windows x64 and i love it i def saw a difference in performance when i forst got it. only hardware i cant use is my webcam and some programs cant run wit it. but meh go performance been using it for a year now

well i say win xp pro 64 for is the best Bf2 runs so much quicker, and everything just runs smoother. The best way to do it is have one hard drive running xp home and then another running xp pro 64 thats my set up now!

I keep meaning to update my sig but keep forgetting to!
