my friend just buy a new comp (finally! he's getting mad with his P3)

well he just showed me his specs and asked me if he could run bf2 on MED without lag so I took a look :

-AMD Athlon 64 3800+
- 1 G ram
- 250g hard disk

If was like, god ur comp owns mine, but when I saw his vid card I was really ... (Im a NVidiot so I dont know much about ATI)

ATI Radeon Xpress 200 256 mb

So I would like to know if this vid card could support bf2 on with MED settings... maybe someone has the same card and could post his video settings, it would be appreciated.

Moved to hardware.

He will likely only be able to run most low with MAYBE a thing or two on medium. That card really doesn't seem to be any good for BF2.

He should at LEAST get a 6600GT or a 6800 in that machine.

What Talus said. That's a good machine, but that graphics card is too weak to support anything beyond low.

I think this is on-board video. Though it does have 256mb of ram, I am not sure if it will play as good as an add-in card.

The ATI news press has some info about it and that it does support the latest games, but real life performance is always different from the press releases.

After reading the above performance reviews (especially the anandtech article), you should be able to play on medium settings for BF2.

^ yah most likely. It is an integrated card. and the performance is very very poor on that card, even with the rest of his specs it wont do very good. Tell him to get a better video card.

If he wants a mid range card, the 7600 would be pretty pimp (assuming he has a PCIe slot). He'd probably be able to play on all high minus a couple things. But a 6600gt should play medium just fine if he doesn't want to pay $190.

And if he wants to know just how horribly his current graphics card will play on BF2, he could always download the demo :)

It will be all low, if it will run, its not a very good card to have, i would suggest an upgrade, as the rest of the machine is very nice. A 6800Gt would do nicely, and they aren't too much.
