How much RAM do you really need for BF2?

Well i was wondering how much ram you really need to run BF2 at high setting, and so i though that i should go and investiagte to help people decide how much to by, and what type of performance increases they can expect.

Both the above pages explain really well (for BF2) how much increase you can expect, and all that.

They were using a 6800GT and an AMD 4000+ im pretty sure, just for the noting.

    So yea... Comment away please.

Those results do not take into account level load times (very important for multiplayer games if you want to use a certain vehichle or be commander) and they do not take into account random studdering and slow downs that do occur with less than 1.5 or 2GB of ram.

everyone says 2GB is ideal if you are planning to run high settings.

You can really see how the higher ammounts of ram help when you are multitasking, or playing music, etc...

But yea, i havnt been ablwe to find out about the load times yet, and yea with any less than 1.5 gig you can see that the pc has to access the HD alot, which causes alot of stuttering and slowdowns, at random times, or when a lot of action breaks out.

512mb is the minimum but it's not recommended for desire of high performance.

            Tomshardware is hardly reliable.

              trust, 2GB will help.

Re: How much RAM do you really need for BF2?

I recently bought an extra gig of dual channel DDR and put it in, I noticed the difference for the first couple of days, the game would load quicker, and I could finally get to the vehicles or be commander...but for some unknown reason I now am back to loading slowly, anyone know why?

I have 512mb dual channel DDR in memory slots 1 & 3, and now I have the 1 gig in slot 2...is this a problem, do I have to get another gig for it to run dual channel?

My hard drive has plenty of space, my bandwith is good as well. I feel a bit ripped off, for spending 130 euros to start 10 or so seconds earlier, and now am back to starting slow.

                Cheers

                  mix and matching isn't advised
