Try using internet explorer for windows update. You shouldn't really even have firefox installed yet. You install Drivers, update windows, install any drivers that would need windows SP components, and then install all your other programs.

you should just do it at boot, press one of the f1,2 or something buttons than you'll come in a menu to reformat and than you can reinstall xp.. right ?

i have tried with IE. i've installed all my drivers already too. (sound,VGA,mobo,modems,etc...) the way i made it work in firefox is that i used a plugin that emulates IE in firefox i think... gonna reformat again.. maybe i installed a corrupt version of windows...

YAY!! I've been finally successful. upgraded first to SP2 b4 i did anything. thx for all the help guys.
