Re: X1600 Pro 512MB PCI
You might not need 512MB of memory on the X1600. It only uses a 128 or 256-bit interface depending on what X1600 you get. It would run BF2 quite smoothly on medium with some settings on high. You'd want 2GB of RAM to run at all High settings.Comment

Re: X1600 Pro 512MB PCI
agree, i have X1600 256MB
it runs most on medium / some high around 30-40fps with 1GB ram
when i got another 512MB ram stick
it immediately improved to 50-60 fps and
able to run all settings high / medium terrain / only 2x AA
around 30-40 fps
anyways terrain takes up A LOT of memory
RAM is cheap but CRUCIAL in making BF2 look nice and run smoothComment

Re: X1600 Pro 512MB PCI
None of the x1600's have a 256bit memory interface...despite what some of the technical details say on the website you are looking at. NONE of them!
Also, because of the memory interface limitation, that card will never use the full 512 of ram, and can barely use the 256mb the other version has.
The 512 versions of any card that isn't the top of the line models, is for video editing only.Comment

Re: X1600 Pro 512MB PCI
the 512mb is a joke to get you to spend more money
the 128 bit interace at best can handle 256mb of memoryComment

no current card supports the DX10 spec right now. Some cards may or may not already affirm to parts of the spec, but the final DX10 specifications are not even finalized yet...Originally posted by USMC_Nighthawk1I love the fact that the 1600 will support DX10 too!(i think partially) Nvidia=pwned

Re: X1600 Pro 512MB PCI
No current dx9 card will ever support dx10, because it is physically impossible. Dx10 is a brand new, and doesn't use any existing dx9 code.Originally posted by twsmitno current card supports the DX10 spec right now. I don't know who told you that, but you need to punch them for spreading false information.Originally posted by USMC_Nighthawk1I love the fact that the 1600 will support DX10 too!(i think partially) Nvidia=pwned

Re: X1600 Pro 512MB PCI
were there any DirectX 8 cards that worked with DX9?
I wouldn't know because I just started to get interested in computers last year about the time FEAR came out...Comment
