Re: Alienware Quad SLi 7900's
ya, if you went with default config you would have more video ram than you did regular
, with one gig you might not be able to play bf2 all on high (but you probably would cause of the massive vid ram). how badly would it suck to buy that and not be able to play on high? and what about that mobo? dual SLI?? whoa

Re: Alienware Quad SLi 7900's
i don't know why everyone is ranting and raving about quad SLI... IMO the real value of the dual 7900 chips is to be able to have SLI performance on any Nforce mobo (even ones with just one PCI-E slot)Comment

Re: Alienware Quad SLi 7900's
I have seen you post numerous times about Vista and DX10. I hope you realize that vista will only require a DX9 card for the full 3d desktop effect, and that if your using a less powerful card Vista will just default to a Win2k/XP classic mode.Originally posted by sackynutyeah especially because of those arent DX10 cards, when vista comes out.... you're Pwn3d.
Any computer that can play BF2 will more than easily be able to run Vista, and almost everyone on these boards will be able to run the full Aero Glass 3d enviroment.
Frankly i have used vista, and i have read extensively about it. Right now i see little incentive to upgrade until atleast 6 months to a year+ after release. Halo 2 is supposed to require Vista as some sort of MS marketing strategy... but lol who really cares, not missing out on much.
Hell personally i would still be using Win2k if it wasnt for the fact that I eventually decided to pay for an OS (got tired of pirating) and decided to get some extra head room and longevity going with XP.Comment

Re: Alienware Quad SLi 7900's
I'm using Win2K Professional :) No need to upgrade to XP. 3 downsides; No IE7, not really a downside. No Windows Media Player 10, again, not really a downside. Lastly; Very limited WindowsBlinds and other Theme options, I wanna cry :)Comment

850 Watt Alienware® Approved Turbo Cool SLI. IS the 7900 that power hungry? I know its for 2 but what does 1 require? Because my power supply is SLI ready. And its only 480 watts.Comment

Re: Alienware Quad SLi 7900's
Recommened PSU for the 7900GTX is 350-400W. Thats the whole system's pwoer consumption. Consumption of the card is obviously lower, probably around 500W should be enough for SLI'd 7900GTXs.Comment
