Currently I have a set of 2.0 speakers and a set of 2.1, and some 5.1 headphones. I am as of right now using the headphone and the 2.1 speakers and I really dont want to waste my money on 5.1 speakers. I have a x-fi platinum sound card, is it possible, if I hook up my 2.0 into one jack, and my 2.1 into another I can create 5.1? its a lonnnnnnnng shot but Im just wondering.

Well..... yes you can, but you will only have 4.1 speakers. It might not sound great, but its technically possible. (however there are practical limitations)
If you can rig the speakers to connect to the sound card it will work. However there are a few issues, first if these are the typical PC speakers they wont be speaker wire, but rather mini headphone jacks, and probably connect to an external powersource with an external volume control. It will be a pretty big mess of wires, and you will have two independent volume controls.
It will work, and what the hell, try it out and see how it sounds. Though mind you you need 5 speaker + sub for 5.1, you only have 4 speakers and a sub, so your looking at 4.1 surround. -

hmm, well I tried (4.1) and there were issues. it seems my current 2.1 doesnt plug in the right way. the manual says that for 2.1, the plug should be in the second audio port from the left, and for 4.1, the second and third and so on. well, my 2.1 plugs into the third and ONLY the third, it dosent work in any others. I my other 2.0 speakers didnt either. I do not know why.Comment
