Actually, the x800XL/6800GT 256MB are some of the best for AGP, it will run BF2 at all high. A very good card, but still pricey.

Yeah we're gonna need that.

To OP: If you open your case, look for the PCI slots and then usually up for a similar slot thats not in line with the rest, usually thats the AGP slot.

Ive been wondering for a few days now, what is the top of th eline AGo card, as im thinking of upgrading, but i only have an AGP board. And i wanted to see if i could get a good card to keep me going for a few years or is i should save up for a while and get a PCI-e board, new CPu and new card.. basically a new pc.

7800gs is the top-of-the line AGP card right now, but I think it would be better to just wait until you're ready to upgrade you whole PC. Conroe is looking pretty awesome and DX10 cards are expected to come out later this year. And very few, if any, of those DX10 cards are going to be AGP

x800xt AIW AGP--

1) It's a super card, with 16 pixel pipelines for games

2) You can have it do TIVO, you can record from ANY video source, you can edit video, etc...

3) Whenever I upgrade (in 2 years), I will pull the AIW x800xt and put it into a SFF pc beside the television.

wait for ati to offer a mail-in-rebate, or the card to go on sale. it really is an awesome product. Nvidia 7800gs is a better gaming card, but the AIW has long legs, and will serve you well for years after you've upgraded on your main gaming system.

Don't get AGP, bad decision. New AGP cards aren't going to be made after April everything's going PCI-e x16

Yea, its just the rest of the pc is running fine.. oh well.. I'll see what i can scrape together and then decide. Also, does anyone know of a good custom/gamming laptop supplier, preferably in Aus, but can be anywhere, as long as they ship overseas.

This was my last AGP card before upgrading to an X800XL All-In-Wonder AGP. In Battlefield 2 I got 50-60 fps at 1024x768 resolution with everything set to medium and 2x AA. My setup is AMD 64 3200+ Clawhammer and 2x512MB of Kingston RAM. Not a bad performer for the price, and you can get one for under 100$ on eBay at this point.

If you're under a $150, spend the extra 30$ or so and go for the 6800gs, PCI-E cards would require you to get a ne motherboard.
