Every now and then I have this problem, I asked some tech help forums and they didnt help. Does anyone know what it is when it takes windows like 5 minutes to load/boot. It usually takes me abour 15 seconds after POST. But the past few days it takes like 5 minutes, then I turn it off for the night, and the next day it takes another 5 minutes. Anyone know what could be causing this? i Can post more info if needed.

What programs are starting at windows boot? Do you know anything about MSconfig? -

yes I know my MSconfig, it consists of some nvidia nforce chipset drivers, my X-fi drivers, display drivers, keyboard and mouse drivers and thats about it. I keep my msconfig very clean.Comment

That's just silly. Without the Nvidia drivers he would have no display, without his sound driver he would have no sound, without his mouse and keyboard driver he would have limited mouse/keyboard function.Originally posted by Wreck

I know you need drivers to start windows. I'm talking about his startup menu on MSconfig. You actually don't need anything checked in that menu. I think we are misunderstanding each other here. oh, alright. well it seems to only happen when I turn off the computer, and then the surge protector, and then turn it on. (the power is fully gone). If I turn it off with the surg protector still on and turn it back on it SEEMS to work good. but turning off the overall power with the surge protector SEEMS (note: seems) to make it long boot. just today it took 10 minutes to boot, and it just WOULDNT go to the log on screen it just stayed at the windows loading screen for like 15 minutes, so I hit the power button and restarted and it worked.
