I don't know about the core speeds, but the gtx has 512mb memory at 1700mhz(?), while the gt has a speed of 1500mhz and only 256mb of memory. The gt is about as powerful as a 7800gtx 256mb, and its only 300 bucks.

significant... NO.. but closer to MSRP yes. 7900GT should be much closer to $300 in a few weeks, instead of the $330-350 we see now.

The prices are not going to change much dude. They just released the parts today and it will be months until we see significant price cuts. $10 here and $10 there, but your not going to see an official price cut for a long time. Right now retailers are jacking the prices to get people in the first few weeks, then prices should settle around MSRP, and they will stay at MSRP for a long time.
