Which Graphic Card?

Hello, can u guys help me out which graphic card to choose? i have a budget of SG$200-$250, i want a graphic card that BF2 support and I don't mind playing BF2 in medium setting, and i don't know how to check if my computer PCI or AGP (well i don't know wat PCI and AGP is)

Here is my comp spec:

-AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ ( 2.0GHz ) with Hyper-Transport Technology
-1.2 Gig RAM (Planning to get another 512MB)
-80GB 7200RPM Serial ATA
-ATI RADEON Xpress 200 with 64MB video memory

Never seen a 6800XT before but that card looks good. Maybe it's a lower clocked version of the 6800gs.

I reccomend the ATI X800XL its cheaper than the new 1000's vpu's and usually you can find one on ebay for pretty cheap

I want to buy a notebook, but I am not really sure if the Ati Mobility Radeon X300 is good enough for playing Battlefield 2. It has 128MB but I'm still not sure if its good enough for running it smoothly.

they are definitely 'better' cards, but i dont know if youd want to upgrade from a 6600gt to them.

a couple of days ago i tried my friend's 6800gs on my rig to see how much better it would be for BF2 (than my 6600gt), and i could turn up a few more settings and thats about it. i assumed the difference would be night and day, but the difference between, say, medium textures and high textures is hardly noticeable. all in all it was an improvement (before i get jumped by any 6800 owners), but not enough of one to upgrade from a 6600gt. the 7800s are a different story.

so for medium -> high textures, 2x AA -> 4x AA, medium -> high lighting, etc its not really worth it. why not put your $300 in the bank and wait till around september, i am sure that there are going to be some great deals around then, and ones worthy of an upgrade.
also, if you do not have PCI-E, then a PCI-E should be your first priority for an upgrade. AGP is totally dead-end, buying an expensive AGP card now is not a good idea.

Wow dude I was looking at your PC pics and specs and I was wondering, exactly what is the point of dual monitors...for you?

I mean I know alot of people use them in corporations to easily run multiple programs on one system.

Also, I didn't know Opteron processors worked on regular AMD mobos....are they 939 pin?

Also, for your vid card, what with the dual numbers?

Are they for core clock and overall speed...or what?

SLI two 7800s? a single card will run any current game with the highest settings. the next generation enthusiast cards will always outperform the current generation of bleeding-edge cards.

if you have two 7800gtx's in an SLI config then you either have money to burn (good for you) or you blindly buy into marketing hype. and if someone tells me their eyes can tell the difference between 100 FPS and 200 FPS they are full of #%@$. anything over 60FPS pretty much looks the same, not to mention we are limited by our monitors as well.

right now IMO if you have PCI-E the best card on the market is the 7800GT. you can spend more, but you wont get more practical performance, and all current cards will be vastly outclassed by the next gen anyway.

btw have you guys seen the Unreal 3 (and UT 2k7) engine? they are running that thing on a quad-7800gtx setup. toms hardware had an article on dual-core 7800gtx's run in an SLI setup effectively producing a quad-7800gtx graphics setup -- thats what theyre using.

i have no doubt that the enthusiast level cards of the time will run that flawlessly. both game designers and viid card manufacturers would be cutting their own throats if only bleeding edge hardware supported a popular game like that.
