Hey guys, it's me (again!)

So I've bought a new PC and it's kickass. BF2 runs faster than **** off a shovel/your granny after a curry/other generic ****-related analogies.

Anyways, it's only got 1.5gb of RAM. The RAM inside this PC says PC4200 on it, but my old RAM (2gb of it sitting there doing sweet f/a) says PC3200. Would the 3200 work in my new PC, or would it destroy it trying?

As long as the new computer uses ddr, the old ram will work fine.

The old ram will work fine but will slow down your kickass machine, pc 3200 runs at 400Mhz, pc4200 at 566Mhz. what mobo do you have? How many memory modules are installed on the mobo and are they colour coded or marked in any way?

There are 3 x 512mb in there at the moment. How can I find out if it's DDR? Is there a program for it? I don't know much about the mobo - it's an asus.

if you are using ddr2, it wont work.

if you are using ddr plain, it will work, but all of the ram will be slowed down to 3200. I would wait and get another same stick of 4200.

I would be very surprised if you had PC4200. That is overclocker ram, and since you seem to not know the basics (no offense) it doesnt appear you would be the overclocking type.

Go with PC3200

Uh, hello - I checked the RAM. It quite clearly states on the side "PC4200".

ok fine, its PC4200. Do you overclock? Is this a custom built computer by any chance? The only reason to have PC4200 is to overclock, if your running stock get PC3200
