Upgrades for pc.

heya

I want to upgrade my computer so it can atleast play medium graphics on bf2 nice and smooth. My computer is a intel p4 2.4ghz (socket 478:hmm:) 1024mb of ddr ram and a radeon 9550 256mb..

I'm on a budget of $700(AUD) and i was thinking of getting:

AMD 64 3700+ (939) LINK
Sapphire Radeon X800-GT 256mb PCI-E LINK
And this motherboard LINK

Would this play bf2 on medium/high ?? real smooth..

yeah it would, but I'd suggest cutting back on the cpu and putting the money toward a better graphics card. And I honestly don't know too much about that board, but I'm not too fond of mATX just because of the lack of PCI slots.
Yeah, I think you should get an AMD 3200 and a 6800gs for a video card. I'm not really sure how good of reputations Leadtek or Gigabyte have in video cards though.

there is like a $20 difference between 3500+ and 3700+.

Get a 3200+ and overclock it. Go for a GeForce 6800GS too.

Get the Leadtek Winfast PX6800GS 256MB (Link) for +$90
and lower down the CPU to a either of these:
AMD Athlon 3500+ (Link) for -$20
AMD Athlon 3200+ (Link) for -$90

i opted for the fx-55 and nvidia 7800 gtx 512mb myself , but thats just me :p

You have no brains because you bought a single core proc for 600 bucks when you could've bought a dual core, oc'ed it and gotten better performance for much less.
