PC upgrade to play BF2 advice - please!

This question primarily goes out to anyone that has upgraded their PC to play BF2 competitively!

I'm saving to buy a totally new PC for gaming, and was wondering what significant advantages are there in BF2 for doing so?
My current spec is:-
Geforce 5900xt, 1 gig memory, 2800 32bit processor (AMD), IDE 60 gig HD
I'm considering a 7800 GTX (or equivalent), 2 gig mem, 64bit processor and sata2 drive.
Also what mice, keyboard etc would people recommend?

dont skimp on the ram you neeed 2 gig for this game as for the rest down to personal choice

Depends...

I have been hearing (although not any personal research) into upcomming window's vista. Not that I am gonna run out and get it, but the DX10 cards sound promising.

I would almost say 'wait' for the release of it because of two things. DX 9 cards will drop in price (I would assume), or 2) get the newer dx10 cards.. although I imagine it will be expensive.

However on to RAM. Go for 2GB!!

<$130 nF4 ultra or SLi motherboard, DFI and Asus come to mind
250-300GB Hard drive 16Mb cache, 7200RPM
2GB Value ram 2x 1Gb sticks kit

I just built a gaming pc for bf2. I started with a a-bit kn8 sli motherboard. Amd athlon x2's 4200+ (2-2.2's). 2gb patriot ram pc3200. bfg tech 6800 (256 mb pc express). wd 80gb hard drive 8mb cach 7200rpm and a nice case for it all. Game plays flawless everything on high aa is turned to 4x. Cost only 1100$ well worth it. I also have a g5 laser logitech mouse w/ internal weight cartrage sweet.
