Iam looking at the 7800GS OC but it says BFG or EVGA whats the difference between BFG and EVGA? and is this a good card to invest some cashola into?

There are few differences between graphic board manufacturers. They buy the same chips from nvidia and usually use nvidia (or ATI's) reference design. What they basically do is provide their own warranty and have the option of clocking the core and memory at different speeds, and in some cases they develop a custom heatsink, or actually redesign the board layout so that it can perform better.
When i buy its on warranty, software bundle, and asthetics. There really is little difference between them. Dont get caught up on minor overclocks, if one card is 400mhz, and the other is 405mhz, big flipping deal! Only when its exremely overclocked like an OC edition, or in the case of most 7800GT's, should it come into play. For instance my 7800GT is stock clocked at 445mhz on the core up from a 400mhz nvidia reference design and mine came with BF2 bundled!
Unless there is a good bundle etc... just get the cheapest one with a decent warranty. -

the 7800gs is the best you can get for an agp....so i guess if you dont want to put more money into upgrading to a pci-e system, then sure, get one...i would if i had the money.
as for the brands....really no difference in performance...but ppl tend to like evga better.Comment

BFG usually has faster clocks, and they are both solid companies. I would get the EVGA which costs less and clock it to the BFG, but some people say evga sucks and BFG is the best ever. I have two evga's and they rock, but its all up to you. with some BFG cards, u might even get a free shirt ^_^Comment

I recently upgraded my card to a BFG 7800GS. I was really leaning toward an E-VGA version this time, but I started to read on NewEgg that people were having DOA prob's with E-VGA cards. All versions. I am sure they will straighten that out soon. They are a quality company like BFG and normally provide great quality at a few $$$ less then BFG. But because of those reports and in other people in E-VGA's forums saying the same about E-VGA 7800gs's I chose to go with replacing my current 6800GT BFG with a 7800GS from BFG. I was going to go for a complete system upgrade but this will tide me over for a year or so. And will save for an AM2 system with a Direct X 10 system.Originally posted by sackynut

I rolled it back to 531 and 1420 for a little while just to make sure there are no problems with BF2, and so far I have not found any at this clock rate.
